Nathaniel Hawthorne is best known for his classic tales, The Scarlett Letter and House of the Seven Gables. Considered one of America’s premiere writers, he wrote a variety of novels and short stories that have enticed readers for decades.
FYI
* Hawthorne was influenced by Paul Bunyan.
* For a time Hawthorne was neighbors to Henry David Thoreau, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and Louise May Alcott.
* His great-grandfather was involved in the Salem witch trails. Because of his families’ past, Hawthorne added the ‘w’ to his name.
* Herman Melville dedicated Moby Dick to Hawthorne.
